Standing Out Is The New Fitting In

im really not sure when this transformation of pop culture began, but it's happening.
im really not sure if this metamorphosis is a good thing or not, but it is what it is.
remember back when everyone just wanted to be a clone of the next guy?
remember when no one was original because they were too busy spectating and emulating?
looks like times have changed; i just hope that it's for the better.
nowadays, no one wants to look, dress, act, talk, BE like the next person.
i mean, that's a good thing, right?
well it would be, except people are making a conscious effort to differentiate themselves from others.
this is where the problem comes in.
when being different is cool, it becomes a fad, just like skinny leg jeans.
now, people are going overboard with the outlandish behavior, just so that they stand out.
news flash: you can't possibly stand out that way-- after all, everyone is doing it now.
it's in, and if you fit in, you're lame.
that is, unless your out-of-pocket behavior is subconscious.
when you try to be different, the essence of diversity is lost.
therefore, you still get categorized with all the other people who became weirdos in the last year.
you wanna be different?
be you, not who you think stands out in a crowd.
