Poem One

..And The Sun Rises On The Adolescent Vampire

He knew his time awaited,
Seven minutes then,
And counting.
If he only but had one,
He'd have felt his own hear pounding.
That uncomfortable rest
That bed that lies beneath
The wilting grass and broken stones
That sit across the street.
And watching from my window
I almost felt compelled
And moved by sympathy
To go across and wish him well,
But I dared not leave this wooden stake,
I dared not bare my neck!
For fear of what he'd do to me,
For angst that I'd be next.
Yet, any human soul
That could bare to see him die
There, alone, must also lack
Tear ducts with which to cry.
The cause for this poor boy's demise,
It really is quite tragic
Yet and still, you know of course
Of course, it has to happen
Only six was this poor boy
Before this all transpired
Before the beast tore through his flesh,
That's all that it required
The living dead, the dying life
Whichever most applies
Tried in vain to fly away;
The sun began to rise!
But doomed he was,
He knew it too,
Twas time to face the facts
The time was here,
He felt the sunlight burn against his back.
The pain I felt for that poor boy
Has yet to meet a mate.
I shed a tear that day at dawn
That trickled down my face
And I could feel the burn he felt
As it trekked down my cheek
I only hope that at my final dawn,
I lie asleep.

Tell me what you think!
